Authorities in Shasta County are on the hunt for a man who they believe tried to kill his friend this morning.

62-year-old Raymond Azevedo is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is still on the loose this after this morning's incident.

Officials say Azevedo got into an argument with 30-year-old James Hayes around 11:20 this morning. Hayes was standing in Azevedo's driveway when he was shot multiple times.

Family members rushed Hayes to the hospital and Azevedo fled, leaving no one at the scene when deputies arrived.

"We showed up on scene, we had no victims, no suspects, no information at that time. Once deputies learned the victim was at the hospital, obviously then the investigation started," said Lt. Tom Campbell of the Shasta County Sheriffs Office.

The victim remains in serious condition tonight, but he has been able to talk to detectives.

If you know the whereabouts of Azevedo, you're asked to call the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
