Deputies arrest "armed and dangerous" robbery suspect in Shingletown

Shasta County sheriff's deputies arrested a wanted man Sunday night who is believed to have committed several recent robberies.

Deputies received a tip just after 8 p.m. Sunday that Denver Bowen, who they believed to be armed and dangerous, was hiding out at a home on Fiargo Street in Shingletown.

When deputies arrived at the home, the homeowner confirmed that Bowen was in the home. Deputies found Bowen hiding out in a bedroom closet moments later.

A subsequent search of the home revealed that Bowen was in possession of a Remington pump action shotgun and 12 gauge ammunition, and additionally they learned that he had been in the process of sawing off the gun's barrel just before they arrived. A check of the gun's serial number revealed it had been stolen from a location in Redding.

Bowen was booked into the Shasta County Jail and is being held without bail.
