The officers involved in a Saturday morning shooting on Oro Dam Boulevard have been identified by the Oroville Police Department.
Oroville Police Officers Shane Carpenter, John Nickelson and Chris Nicodemus have been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is conducted. Carpenter was shot in the hand during the incident and is recovering from surgery.
According to the Butte County District Attorney's Office, officers tried to pull over 37-year-old Jeremy Hunter for a broken headlight early Saturday morning. Hunter allegedly got out of the car and pulled a gun out of his waistband.
Officer Nickelson fired several shots at Hunter, striking him in his upper body. Carpenter suffered a gunshot wound to the hand, at this time the DA's office says it is unknown who fired that shot.
Hunter remains in serious condition.
