SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A dispute over who leaked an affidavit about a corruption probe involving a state senator is moving to federal court in Los Angeles.
Former Democratic state Sen. Ron Calderon of Montebello filed the complaint in November 2013. He contends that federal authorities tried to ruin his reputation by raiding his offices, then leaking an FBI affidavit alleging he took money in exchange for promoting bills.
He was later indicted and faces an August trial in federal court in Los Angeles.
Attorney Mark Geragos filed the claim on Calderon's behalf in Sacramento federal court, but voluntarily dismissed it on Friday.
Geragos said he plans to refile the complaint asking a judge to hold federal investigators and prosecutors in contempt in Los Angeles.
Calderon was termed out of the Senate last year.
