Cal Fire held last night’s reported acreage and slightly increased their containment on the Deer Fire largely due to the aid of the California National Guard. Full containment is expected tomorrow.
Significant progress was made throughout Tuesday by the 1,098 personnel staffed to the fire. A large part of the suppression effort was due to helicopters from the California National Guard shuttling ground crews in and out of the remote burn area roughly 10 miles east of Los Molinos.
Despite the increased containment, all hiking trails within the Ishi Wilderness are still temporarily closed for safety. Threat to power lines in the area have been largely mitigated. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
