The Deer Fire, which began yesterday afternoon around 2:15 p.m., has increased in size, but containment continues to grow as well.
The fire is currently burning 12 miles east of Los Molinos near Deer Creek and into a small portion of the Ishi Wilderness. Power lines in the area do remain threatened, but Cal Fire has indicated no structures are threatened at this time.
Gaining an upper hand on the fire has been difficult for crews due to limited access for ground resources because of the steep terrain, but 18 tankers and two helicopters are assisting in the fight. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
