UPDATE: CAIRO (AP) - Egyptian officials say the death toll from a train crash south of Cairo has risen to 26, after two of the injured died in the hospital.
The train slammed into at least three vehicles, including a truck, crossing the tracks early today near the village of Dahshur.
Most of the dead and injured were family members returning from a wedding in Cairo.
PREVIOUS: CAIRO (AP) - Egyptian officials are investigating the cause of a deadly train accident south of Cairo.
At least 24 people were killed and 28 others hurt when the cargo train crashed into vehicles crossing the tracks on Monday.
Officials are quoted on state TV as saying the crossing gates had been closed and the train operator was surprised when he saw vehicles still moving across the tracks.
