OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Police say a burned body was found inside a San Francisco Bay Area apartment where an explosion and fire injured two sheriff's deputies as they were serving an eviction notice.

Alameda County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson tells the Oakland Tribune ( ) the explosion was followed by a fire in the rear of a two-story building in West Oakland.

Nelson says the authorities have deemed the blast "a natural gas incident."

He says a deputy serving the eviction suffered a concussion and another deputy had smoke inhalation. Both were hospitalized.

Nelson says police found the badly burned body in the triplex's rear lower unit, where the eviction notice was being served and the blast occurred.

Authorities have not yet identified the body, or even the person's gender, because the body was so severely burned.
