LOS ANGELES (AP) - Federal authorities are investigating after an airline worker bolted from a security screening at Los Angeles International Airport, leaving behind about 70 pounds of cocaine stashed in her luggage.
Special Agent Timothy Massino with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said Monday the woman is not in custody.
The incident happened Friday.
Massino says Transportation Security Administration officials asked the woman to step aside for a random security screening. She then fled the airport, leaving her luggage behind.
KNBC reported the woman is a flight attendant. Massino could not immediately verify that information or what airline she worked for.
A TSA spokesman declined to comment.
