The Downtown Chico Business Association announced this morning that it will now oversee the downtown ambassador and Jesus Center cleanup brigade programs.
Organizers say the programs were so successful last year that they want to keep them going on a permanent basis. The challenge now is to find funding for the programs to ensure they will continue for the foreseeable future. DCBA Executive Director Melanie Bassett says their goal is to raise $60,000. She says they are hopeful that the community will make donations to support their efforts.
“We really want to build on the Jesus Center clean-up brigade in such a way that people come into the program and then they find jobs," said Bassett. "So, we really want to build on that program as well as our ambassador program."
