Day Fire in Modoc County 25 Percent Contained

The Day Fire in the southwest corner of Modoc County continues to burn in all directions with the greatest intensity in the northeast. Cal Fire is reporting that 12,850 acres have burned with 25 percent containment as of 6:45 a.m. Sunday.

About 150 structures remain under threat. The Lookout Ranchettes remain under mandatory evacuation and several area county roads in the area remain closed. The lightning-caused fire began last Wednesday.

Today, almost 1,700 firefighters are battling the fire. There is no word yet on when fire officials expect the fire to be completely contained.
