Day Fire grows to 12,500 acres, more than 100 structures threatened

The Day Fire burning in Modoc County is threatening more than 100 homes as it moves over the hill near the Lookout Big Valley Ranchettes.
According to Cal Fire, the fire is at 12,500 acres with 15 percent containment.
Mandatory evacuations have been issued for the Lookout area while 150 structures are threatened.
An evacuation center has been set up at Adin Community Center located at 609 South Main St., Adin, Calif.
Day Road is closed from Schneider Ranch Road to the north end of Day Road.
1,142 fire personnel are helping with controlling this blaze; Modoc, Shasta and Lassen County Sheriff's Office are helping with resources.
The fire started on July 30th in the afternoon from a lighting strike. The fire is burning in mixed brush with heavy timber.
