Dangerous erosion closes Plumas National Forest Road

Officials with the Plumas National Forest have announced a road closure due to extensive erosion.

Forest Service road #21N16 (the Sly Creek Dam access) has been shut down to traffic because of erosion on the slope below and underneath the road.

Dense vegetation and steep slopes hide the extent of the damage to those traveling on the road.

The actual road closure is located near the intersection of Camel Peak Road, alternate access is available over the Lost Creek Dam.

There is no current estimate for repairs ... as damage from heavy rains is continuing to worsen.
