DA: Oroville officer-involved shooting was justified

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey says the Oroville police officer who shot a man on the fourth of July was justified in doing so.

The shooting happened when officers tried to pull over 37-year-old Jeremy Hunter in the early morning hours of July 4.

Authorities say Hunter got out of his car and pulled a loaded gun from his waistband. Officer John Nickelson fired his gun at Hunter, striking him in the upper body several times.

Hunter survived the shooting.

Ramsey announced the findings during a press conference in Oroville Wednesday afternoon. Action News Now reporter Marc Blaine was there, and will have a full report tonight at 5 and 6 p.m.
