D Ray East receives 3 yearsâ?? probation for possession of explosive materials

D Ray East, the Redding man who had more than 60 pounds of explosives was sentenced today.

An attorney for East entered a plea of no contest on his behalf.

East was charged with a misdemeanor count of possessing a destructive device. He will be placed on unsupervised probation for three years and will be subject to searches at any time, he’s also prohibited from having or using explosives or destructive devices.

East’s Chaparral Drive home was incinerated last month after investigators discovered over 60 pounds of explosives, prompting an evacuation of more than 25 area homes.

At this time East has not been asked to pay any restitutions for his crime.
