CHULA VISTA, Calif. (AP) - A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer has shot and killed her boyfriend in San Diego County, telling police it was self-defense.
The Chula Vista Police Department says the 30-year-old woman called 911 Saturday morning to seek medical aid.
Authorities went to an apartment and found a 30-year-old man with a chest wound on the bedroom floor. Efforts to revive him failed.
Police say the woman, who had a hand injury, told authorities she shot the man as he was hitting her.
She wasn't immediately arrested and police say she cooperated with investigators.
Police say the couple and their dog had lived in the apartment for about a month. Their names haven't been released.
