Meadow Lane Elementary School in Anderson was briefly locked down Wednesday morning when two parents became involved in a custody dispute on campus, and one of them claimed the other had a gun.
Police were called to a family disturbance on school grounds at 8:25 a.m. According to reports, two parents were in a custody dispute and the mother had told school officials the father had a gun.
As a precaution, Anderson police ordered the school be put on lockdown.
When officers arrived on scene they quickly determined that the father did not have a gun and the lockdown was lifted at 8:32 a.m.
An investigation revealed the father was trying to serve custody papers to the mother, and because no crime was actually committed and no criminal report is being filed the names of those involved is being withheld.
