The Chico Unified School District board of trustees approved a plan to deal with the overgrown Loma Vista School campus at last night’s meeting. The board was split on its decision 3 to 2, but ultimately voted to expand the current facilities at Loma Vista while avoiding a merger with Citrus Elementary. The board had roughly a dozen different options to choose from. District officials say they decided expansion at the Marigold Avenue site would have the least impact on other students in the district. Many of the people at the meeting in support of Citrus Elementary urged the school board not to move Loma Vista's students, which would have meant shifting all of the elementary school's current students to at least three other campuses.
