Chico State and Butte College students debated, discussed, and presented on a host of technology issues in downtown Chico today.

It was part of the Chico Great Debate, which has been around for five years and gets students discussing hot topics out of the classroom and in the community.

Chico State junior Farah Yousif focused on the pros and cons of closed circuit TV's (CCTV's).

For her, the Chico Great Debate is more than just a requirement for her communications class.

"We have the power as students to influence the community," Yousif said. "You know this is a public event so people can come and just watch us, hopefully learn something new about our topics, maybe even influence us as well."

The main event, which starts at 6:30 in the Chico city council chambers, includes students and community members debating police body cameras.
