Work is still underway in trinity county along highway three after a mudslide washed out part of the road near Weaverville.
Caltrans says it could take two months to restore the huge section of highway that gave way last week after heavy rains.
They are hoping to have the road back open by Memorial Day.
Crews on scene say the main focus was to get slate creek flowing again after nearly 60-thousand yards of soil fell and blocked the creek.
A 40-mile detour is open to both four and two-wheel drive vehicles beginning at Trinity Mountain Road in French Gulch.
The detour runs north along the east side of Trinity Lake just south of coffee creek.
