A bit of a Benny Hill moment for Chico Police Friday, a loose cow was spotted on Cohasset Road causing a bit of a stir to traffic.
The cattle rancher who has property on both sides of Cohasset, told us he believes the heifer got out from his property on the east side of the road.
Thanks to the help from his cow herding dog, two-year-old Border Collie, Annie, after about a 20-minute adventure, the cow was convinced to go through a gate to safety.
“Regardless of what you do, once in a while one get out, especially this time of year when it’s getting dry and they're looking for more feed,” said Jerry Bradley, the cattle rancher who owns the property. “They're ready to go somewhere, they know they go to the mountains in the summer, so they're ready to go.”
Bradley said he's already in the process of shipping his 300 head of cattle to Quincy for the summer, and said he was going right to work to inspect his fence-line to repair the spot where the cow escaped.
