Last year, the Courthouse Museum on Highway 299 West in Redding had to reduce hours to help save money.
The Shasta County Historical Society is pleased to announce that thanks to additional funds, the beautifully restored courthouse and jail is once again open on Thursdays.
"The big news is we're open on Thursdays again," said Park Interpretive Specialist Jennifer Pooley, "which is really great because we were missing families on vacation and travelers through the area, so we just have more opportunity for the public to come and see us."
The County Courthouse in Shasta was built in 1855 and the museum has been restored to its 1861 appearance.
Museum tours are $3 for adults and $2 for children.
