A Sacramento man is in custody after he allegedly robbed a Willows couple inside their home.

According to the Glenn County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of an armed man knocking on the front door of a home on County Road 99 just before 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday. When deputies arrived they found a car that had been reported stolen in Willows earlier in the day.

The woman who reported the incident told deputies the suspect pulled a handgun on her and her husband and demanded gas or money. The couple gave the man a gas can, a bag of change and $11.

Authorities began canvassing the area for the suspect and found a black Beretta CO2 pellet gun between the couple's home and the stolen car.

Minutes later deputies found 20-year-old Matthew Ryan Salazar hiding in a barn west of the couple's home. Salazar was positively identified as the suspect and taken into custody, he is facing kidnapping, false imprisonment, brandishing a firearm replica, burglary and armed robbery charges.
