Couple in aparrent murder-suicide had history of domestic violence

The Tehama County Sheriff's Office says the couple that died of an apparent murder-suicide Sunday had previous domestic violence issues.

According to the Sheriff's Office there had been a previous domestic violence temporary restraining order, but not an active one for several years.

Authorities say 34-year-old Justin Sides killed himself after fatally shooting his wife, 31-year-old Jenilee Sides. Justin Sides called 911 at 4:14 a.m. Sunday and told dispatch that he had shot his wife and was going to shoot himself. He also informed officials that he had children in the house.

Deputies arrived and found Jenilee Sides shot at the end of the driveway at 24138 Electric Ave in Dairyville. She died of her wounds a short time after.

Authorities found that six children were in the home, they were able to use patrol cars to get them all out of the area.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter located Justin Sides in a field north of his home, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
