Chico's Chapmantown and Mulberry neighborhoods are back in the spotlight after the city council decided to reconsider their November decision not to go forward with the annexation of both communities.
The city decided to re-agendize the issue following a decision by LAFCO, the agency that oversees the annexation process between cities and Butte County, to take the city to court over its decision not to proceed with the long-term annexation plans.
At Tuesday night's council meeting some residents came to show their support for the annexation while others expressed concern and skepticism.
The annexation would connect neighborhood sewer systems to the city, but some residents say they don't have any issues with the sewer system, they oppose being annexed to the city of Chico.
The council will reconsider annexation next month, but before a decision is made the city council will hold a public meeting on a Saturday morning for any residents that would like to voice their questions or concerns. The date for that meeting has not been set, but officials said they will notify residents as soon as a date is scheduled.
