Measure A in the Cottonwood Fire Protection District is failing so far. If passed, it is a bond measure that would provide $4 million to build a new fire station in Cottonwood. The current building is nearly a hundred years old and has structural damage and safety hazards. Based on the votes counted so far the measure is failing. It requires a two-thirds majority in order to pass but right now the yes votes are at 59%, with 41% voting against it. According to the Shasta County clerks office, there are 11 provisional ballots still left to be processed.
