Cottonwood brothers facing weapons charges

Two Cottonwood brothers, who investigators say hold anti-government ideals, have been arrested for the possession of more than 300 guns and rifles and several thousand rounds of ammunition.

Thaddeus and Zackary Stevenson, both 23-years-old, were arrested at their Laurel Way home Thursday morning. Both men have past convictions so they are not allowed to possess any type of firearm.

Investigators say both men also had high-capacity ammunition magazines, which are illegal for most citizens to possess. At this time investigators say they have not found anything to indicate that either suspect was in the process of carrying out any plan outside of compiling a large cache of weapons.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail without incident, both men have bailed out of jail.
