History is making a comeback in Downtown Corning. The Rodgers Theatre has been under construction as a group is determined to bring the theater back to life.
The theater that was built in 1935 and closed down in 2006 due to its poor condition. Since then, the group "Friends of the Theater" has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into updating the theater for the community. The building will be used as a multi-purpose favility. Funds for the theatre are coming from donations. The project is a work and progress and there is no finish date set although many are hoping it will be finished by fall.
Tuesday at 7 P.M. the Rodgers Theatre's doors will be open to the public once again to showcase the progress of the building.
