Corning police are currently searching for the driver of a stolen Kia sedan after he failed to stop for officers and fled on foot.

Authorities first noticed the blue Kia around 11:30 Tuesday night making a left turn onto Rawson Road from Corning Road, then driving in the opposite lane of traffic. When officers attempted to pull the car over, the driver accelerated at a high speed. The driver then attempted to make a turn westbound onto Chittenden Road and lost control, crashing into a ditch. The driver jumped out of the car window and fled on foot, heading into an orchard. Officers were lost sight of him and were unable to locate him.

When investigating, officers found the car to be stolen out of Corning.

25-year-old Rachel Touvell, of Corning, was a passenger in the stolen car and was arrested for an unrelated outstanding warrent out of Tehama County.

If you have any information on the location of the suspect you are asked to contact the Corning Police Department.
