A Corning man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly fired three shots at a man he believed vandalized his car.

Police responded to reports of shots fired near Solano and West Streets around 2:15 a.m. Monday.

According to a news release, 27-year-old Ty Martinovich fired three shots from a red BMW at Corning resident Travis Gasler.

All three shots missed Gasler, who was able to identify Martinovich as the shooter.

Police say the shooting stems from an earlier incident in which Martinovich suspected Gasler of vandalizing his car, but witnesses reportedly say Gasler played no role in the alleged vandalism.

Martinovich was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
