Corning Man Flees Police, Arrested for Stealing Hotdogs

A Corning man is behind bars after stealing several items from a grocery store and resisting arrest.

Corning Police arrested 20-year-old Austin James Anderson of Corning around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night. Austin is accused of stealing a bottle of liquor, a package of crab meat and some hotdogs from Safeway Market on the 600 block of Edith Ave.

While being handcuffed, Austin struggled with officers as was able to break free. He fled on foot through a field where officers lost sight of him. Officers from the California Highway Patrol and the Tehama County Sheriff’s Department joined in the search and were able to locate Austin inside a residence on La Mesa Court.

He was taken into custody and charged with burglary, resisting arrest and resisting with violence. His bail is set at $68,990.
