It was a bit cooler around the North State today, with a few thunderstorms in the mountains. We'll continue to cool down with a few mountain thunderstorms through next week!
High pressure continues to weaken, allowing our temperatures to continue to cool down. That trend will continue into next week. Monsoon moisture remains in place, and we saw thunderstorms in the mountains today. A BIG one rolled through Lake Almanor, and dropped 1.5" of rain in about an hour on the peninsula! There was some hail and reports of a house damaged, due to a falling tree in the storm. Thunderstorm activity will be less tomorrow in the mountains, but a few are still possible.
A weak disturbance will flirt with the coast next week, continuing to cool us down and sparking more mountain thunderstorms. Temperatures should actually fall below average by late next week!
So, after a HOT start to July... Relief is on the way!
