Cooling centers opening across the North State

Temperatures are soaring and highs Wednesday could reach 115 degrees, meaning several counties are opening cooling centers to help people beat the heat.

Here's a list of the cooling center locations in the North State Wednesday:


The Good News Rescue Mission: 3100 Market Street, Redding

Mt. Shasta Mall: 900 Dana Drive, Redding

Anderson Library: 3200 W. Center Street, Anderson

Redding Library: 1100 Parkview Ave, Redding

Cottonwood Community Library: 3427 Main St, Cottonwood

Frontier Senior Center, 2081 Frontier Trail, Anderson

John Beaudet Community Center: 4150 Ashby Ct, Shasta Lake


Red Bluff Library: 645 Madison St, Red Bluff

Corning Library: 740 Third St, Corning

Los Molinos Library: 7881 State Route 99E, Los Molinos


Bayliss Library: 7830 Road 39, Bayliss - open Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Elk Creek Library: 455 Elm St., Elk Creek - open Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Hamilton City Fire Department: 420 1st Street

Community Recovery and Wellness Center; 1187 E. South St, Orland - open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Orland Library: 333 Mill Street - open Mon, Wed, Fri 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Open Tues, Thurs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Harmony House: 343 Yolo Street, Orland - open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Orland Senior Center: 19 Walker Street - open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Willows Behavioral Health: 242 N. Villa Ave., - open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Willows Library: 201 N. Lassen

Willows Senior Center: 556 E. Sycamore St. - open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.


The Paradise Senior Center will be open as a cooling center during business hours Wednesday and Thursday.

While Butte County does not have any specifically designated cooling centers, anyone in need of a cool down can seek relief at a handful of locations: County Libraries:
