The heat continued today around the North State, and look for more of the same through Friday. Much cooler this weekend, however!
High pressure continues to smother California, sending temperatures up about 10 degrees above average. Thursday looks very similar, and Friday will only be a little bit cooler.
Big changes arrive this weekend, however, as a storm moves into Oregon on Saturday. This should spark afternoon thunderstorms in the mountains, especially the Siskiyous and southern Cascades. The storm is far away enough from us that the Valley should stay dry, but it will break high pressure down enough to allow our temperatures to cool down nicely. We'll see partly cloudy skies in the Valley.
High pressure will return early next week, sending the mercury back up into the upper 80's. Cooler weather returns later next week.
