Monday was hot, hot, hot!!! We'll see cooler weather by the middle of this week, as the remnants of Hurricane Blanca bring us clouds and maybe a few showers.
Today was a hot one around the North State, with Valley highs between 101 and 107! High pressure will weaken slightly tomorrow and the Delta Breeze will strengthen a bit, so we'll cool down on Tuesday, but not a whole lot... It will still be plenty hot.
More substantial cooling will happen on Wednesday as the remnants of a former hurricane arrive. Tropical Depression Blanca once had sustained winds of 140 mph off of Mexico in the Pacific (making it a major hurricane at the time), but now has winds less than 35 mph, and is currently in the Gulf of California. It will lose those winds by tomorrow, but all of it's leftover moisture is heading north to us! We'll notice high clouds thickening by tomorrow afternoon, with skies turning mostly cloudy Tuesday night. Expect numerous showers in the mountains, with a few scattered showers in the Valley both Tuesday night and Wednesday. A thunderstorm or two is possible Wednesday afternoon. All that cloud cover (and a little rain) will cool us dramatically, with Valley highs in the upper 80's to near 90... much nicer!
Unfortunately, the cooldown won't last. The sun should return Thursday (and so will high pressure), which will heat us right back up. Look for Valley highs in the upper 90's to near 100 by Friday and Saturday. We can expect a slight cooldown after that.
