It was a warm and windy day around the North State today. Look for the winds to pick up even more tomorrow, with much cooler temperatures coming our way!
Ahead of a potent cold front, we were warm and windy today with highs in the Sacramento Valley reaching the low 80's and south winds gusting to around 25 mph. A strong cold front will move through tonight, bringing us a chance of a brief shower and much colder air! Cold enough that the snow level may briefly drop to near 3000', although this front is pretty dry... so any snow that falls would be very light.
Behind the front the cold air pours on in, and Valley highs will only be in the 60's tomorrow. Surface high pressure will build into the Pacific Northwest, which will kick up a strong north wind. Look for north wind gusts up to 35 mph both Tuesday and Wednesday! Those winds should diminish Wednesday night, and high pressure will strengthen over us quickly. That will send Valley highs into the 80's by Thursday through this upcoming weekend, with plenty of sunshine.
So the week started warm and will finish even warmer... but a big cooldown happens in-between!
