Our warm weather will give way to cooler weather this weekend... and wet weather late Sunday and early next week!
It was a warm finish to Winter today, with most Valley highs in the lower to middle 80's. Spring starts Friday (the Vernal Equinox is at 3:45 pm PDT), but a storm that will just clip us will break high pressure down some and cool us off a bit. That storm will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout the North State Friday, and perhaps a few showers in Trinity & Siskiyou counties early Saturday morning... but it will be dry elsewhere.
Saturday looks mostly sunny and nice, while the clouds will thicken on Sunday ahead of our next stronger system. Models are speeding up the timing with it, so the rain now looks to arrive Sunday evening into Monday morning. A few Valley thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon... If we get any sunshine earlier Monday, those could be somewhat strong storms. With cooler air moving in, snow levels will lower to near Lake Almanor level and any Valley T-Storms should contain small hail.
The storm will be moving east on Tuesday, but a few scattered showers are still possible. The sun will return on Wednesday, and so will a gusty north wind. The winds will die down and temperatures will warm up late next week.
It looks like an active start to Spring!
