Cool And Blustery Christmas

Dec 24, 2014 9:01 PM by Kris Kuyper

A quick moving storm brought a bit of rain to us in the Valley, and some snow in the mountains. Snow levels dropped to 3500' by Wednesday evening. There was even a strong thunderstorm on the Ridge this afternoon, but it moved into the higher elevations and our storm is quickly moving away from us.

The storm track is shifting northward for a while, so we've got plenty of sun ahead to finish off 2014. Surface high pressure will build into Washington tomorrow, and that will force a lot of air southward, bringing us north wind gusts 25 to 30 mph. The sun and cool weather will last into next week.

As those winds drop off tomorrow night, so will the temperatures. Our first Valley freeze is possible early Friday morning... and again Saturday morning.

Longer range models are indicating the gusty north winds will return early next week, so we've found ourselves in a cool, dry and windy pattern for the last week of 2014.

Merry Christmas!!
