Congressional candidates square off in Redding

The Redding Library was host to a heated debate Wednesday night between 1st District Congressional candidates Heidi Hall and incumbent Doug LaMalfa.

Dozens of locals showed up to the second of three moderated forum's tonight. Republican Doug LaMalfa and Democrat Heidi Hall went face to face, offering their solutions to the plethora of questions from the crowd.

Some of the topics discussed at Wednesday evening's forum, organized by the League of Women Voters of Redding, included fracking, social security, and veterans' issues.

Hall said she was an avid advocate for public education and getting the North Sate's school system back to where it once was. Hall also discussed ways we can reduce the issues presented by wildfires.

LaMalfa put a strong issue on the economy, emphasizing the need for growth and the importance of bringing new jobs to the North State.

The final forum will be held in Nevada County Thursday night.
