Community rallying to save potentially stranded dogs

The Oroville community is rallying around two dogs that may be stranded on a piece of Lake Oroville land only accessible by boat.

A photo of two dogs stranded on the shore of Lake Oroville, near the North Fork Ruins and Old Berry Creek train tunnel, was taken by Darrell Brunelli and his wife Wednesday. Brunelli says he unfortunately did not have room on his boat for the dogs.

The picture was shared to the Facebook page Cody Alert, which is dedicated to reuniting lost dogs with their owners, and has prompted a handful of people to get involved.

Unfortunately all attempts, including an aerial search by Oroville resident Gonzalo “Peewee” Curiel have turned up empty.

The closest boat launch is Lime Saddle, which is now closed due to lake levels, but residents who still have boats in the water are actively searching the vast stretch of land for any sign of the dogs.

Concerned citizens have called city officials and the Lake Oroville business center, and vowed to continue looking.

Action News Now Reporter Cecile Juliette is following the search and will have updates on her Facebook and Twitter page throughout the day.
