Marty Coffield, 56, is a widow of seven months after her husband George passed away due to cancer.
“Before my husband's death we were an average middle class American family,” wrote Coffield.
Coffield said she does not have good credit and is disabled waiting for social security to approve her spousal benefits.
At one point, she lived in her car with two dogs after failing to find a place to live.
Coffield said she is lucky because the community is stepping up to help her.
“Total strangers are helping when it’s supposed to be social security,” said Coffield.
Coffield wants to work and be independent. In December she hopes to be trained for a desk job.
