Community members in Chico honored Veterans Tuesday with the third annual Veteran's Day plant giveaway at the Humboldt Community Garden.
Cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage, were just a few of the plants grown in the Butte Creek Canyon greenhouse and given to local veterans Tuesday morning.
Project manager Rosemary Febbo said "If the veterans don't have a place to garden at their own homes they are welcome to come out and join us here at the Humboldt Community Garden. We have 22 raised beds that the veterans can garden. Gardening is such a great therapeutic thing for them to do after serving in the military."
Workers at the event handed out all sorts of gardening essentials, including winter vegetable starters to help local veterans begin building their own garden.
