The Community Action Agency of Butte County has been serving county residents for 48 years. It's part of President Johnson's War on Poverty in the 1960's. It oversees programs dsigned to help alleviate poverty in our community.

As part of National Senior Awareness Month, the agency is reaching out to low income seniors to promote its North State Food Bank program and it's Energy Weatherization Program

The Food Bank provides fresh fruit, vegetables and other food staples once a week either through direct home delivery or through member agencies. It's not only designed to help with food costs but also to ensure seniors are receiving nutritious food.

And the weatherization program can provide free services that include replacing old windows, doors and appliances as well as tips for saving on your utility bill.
