Firefighters were called to a commercial building fire Monday, to discover a honey oil lab and marijuana grow inside the affected storage units.

Cal Fire responded to the blaze around 4 a.m. on Highway 32 near Muir Ave. in west Chico, where a commercial storage warehouse was up in flames. Two of the four units inside the building were damaged—one was burned from the fire, the other unit sustained smoke damage.

There was no explosion reported, but the fire led to the discovery of the drug operation, which the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) is investigating.

Cal Fire is investigating how the fire started.
