Sunny but chilly today, and that's the way New Year's Day is looking as well. Clouds will thicken this weekend, and rain returns next week!
High pressure just off the coast is keeping us sunny and dry, and that won't change for the next couple of days. It will be a cold start to 2016, with temperatures in the middle 30's in the Valley at the stroke of midnight tonight!
The jet stream will undercut this ridge of high pressure over the weekend, bringing clouds back into northern California... but no rain. Stronger storms will arrive next week, with a notably wet storm coming next Tuesday. The rest of the week looks unsettled, with weaker impulses coming in rather quickly on the fast moving jet stream. Some of this moisture could be finally heading into southern California as well. These storms look a bit warmer than the past few cold storms we've had... Snow levels should rise over 4000'.
