It was a windy start to our work week, but the winds should be diminishing. Look for a cold start to our Tuesday... and a few showers possible by Friday!
Winds gusted 25 to 40 mph in the Valley on Monday, with gusty winds on the Ridge as well. While the Valley winds will diminish overnight, the Jarbo Gap winds on the Ridge will remain gusty overnight, not diminishing until around noon on Tuesday.
With lighter winds and a cold airmass in place, wind-sheltered Valley locations (like the east side of the Sacramento Valley) should be close to freezing overnight. Mountain locations will obviously be much colder (except for the Ridge... kept warm by the Jarbo Gap winds overnight).
We'll see sunshine throught the middle of the week. Clouds will thicken late Thursday, and a weak but cool storm will arrive Friday, giving us a chance of a few showers... which will last into Saturday. It's not a very wet storm, but it's a cool one... look for snow levels to drop to near Lake Almanor level for the first time in a while.
It seems Old Man Winter might be finally waking up... even if it's a bit late!
