Skies cleared today, and it will get cold tonight! Look for the chilly weather to stick around through the weekend.
There were still a few snow showers in the Sierra Nevada today, but much of the rest of the North State was dry, and skies cleared by the afternoon. With mostly clear skies and a cold airmass in place, look for the temperatures to plunge tonight! A gusty north wind will pick up in the Valley tomorrow, about 10 to 25 mph, which will add a bit of a wind chill effect. Thanksgiving and Black Friday will be chilly.
The winds will die down for good Friday night, but the temperatures will remain cold through the weekend.
Long range models are trying to figure out how to break down high pressure over the west coast and get the jet stream active into California next week, but that's always a tricky forecast. One model is really soaking us, while another good model is keeping us absolutely sunny and dry. What will probably happen is a blend of the two, so we'll wait for a bit of model consensus... although we're all really hoping for the wet GFS solution to pan out!
