In an effort to attract more shoppers to downtown Chico this holiday season "Clean and Safe Chico" announced a public safety campaign Monday morning.

City officials say the increased efforts will include an active police presence during the busy holiday season.

Chamber of Commerce member Katie Simmons said "the City is increasing boots on the ground in downtown Chico with the police presence. Retail employs about 35 percent of our workforce in Chico which is why supporting retailers in Chico is critical as it is supporting other industries."

The goal of the campaign is to make downtown Chico a clean and safe place for people to shop.
