City of Redding to honor former Mayor, fallen firefighters over the weekend

Flags at City of Redding facilities will be lowered to half-staff from Friday evening to Monday morning in remembrance of former Mayor Dick Dickerson.

On September 30 Dickerson died at age 77. He served almost a decade as the head of the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force, on the Shasta County Board of Supervisors and in the California State Assembly and also served on the Redding City Council.

A celebration of life for Dickerson will be held at noon on Sunday at the Redding Elks Lodge.

Flags will also be lowered in observance of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
