The City of Oroville hosted a community outreach meeting tonight to discuss the annexation portions of Southside Oroville.
They're moving forward with the heavily debated plans to annex the unincorporated community known as South Oroville and wanted to get the community's input.
With a 5-2 vote, the Oroville City Council approved a resolution declaring the city's intent to bring South Oroville and three other unincorporated areas into the city's fold.
Those other areas include the pacific heights and garden drive neighborhoods and the land currently within the El Medio fire protection district area.
The annexation process now goes forward to Butte County's local agency formation commission, which is in charge of ensuring orderly annexations.
Representatives from the city, Butte County as well as Butte LAFCo were on hand to engage with community.
If you weren't able to make tonights meeting, they plan on having more throughout the next month.
